DAY 43 10th September Geraldton to Cervantes

DAY43

10th September
Geraldton to Cervantes

Ian's birthday today so we met at the IGA carpark a swe had to buy stuff for his birthday barbie tonight. The rule is we have to make salads to share for birthday dinners.
On the way we saw a leaning tree, they grow horizontally here due to the wind. Very strange.

Passed through the historic town of Greenough but nothing was open we were too early. Stopped at Dongara for morning tea a very pretty place.
Took a 4x4 track to Stockyard Gully Tunnel, passed through some lovely wildflower areas and a lot of blackboys growing here. The tunnel was used to keep cattle in on there overland stock route as there is permanent water here. 300 metre long.

Arrived in Cervantes early and had lunch and went to see some stomalites and a lookout over the town.
After that it was late enough to go to The Pinnacles as we wanted to be there at sunset. We went through the discovery centre and then some of us did the 2.5km walk and then the drive around the Pinnacles. Wha ta fascinating place. Very unusual.
Great barbie for dinner and celebrated Ian's birthday.
