Day 6
4th AugustYowah to Quilpie
Left Yowah and headed north to meet the others at Quilpie. Not a long trip arrived there at 11.30am and went to information centre, they told us everything closes at 12noon. Went to shops got fresh bread and booked into caravan park 3 sites next to each other. The others arrived about 3pm. Walked around town and saw the opal altar which the catholic church is famous for. Very spectacular made from chunks of opal. The info centre was very interesting too. Not much else at Quilpie but at the van park they have a huge fireplace with camp fire and camp oven roast beef and roast pork on the spit and vegies and then entertainment at night for $15 so we all decided to go. Had a great night the 3 boys were recruited into the band. Nev played the lagerphone, Paul had clapper sticks and Peter played the t-chest double base.
