DAY 15
Monday 13th August
Ord River to Bungle Bungles
We went to caravan park to meet the others at 7.30am as
planned and Peter and Robyn were sitting in their car. We thought we were late
but they wound their clocks the wrong way and set their alarm for 4.30am and
had been up for hours!!! Met Betty and Gerard from Nederlands who are
travelling the world in a vehicle similar to ours. Had a chat and hoped to catch
up with them in the Bungles. The three vehicles headed off down to the Bungles
we were told road was rough and would take 3 hours to do 56 kms. I guess
everyone’s ideas are different we took 1 and half hours. It was a great drive
with some lovely river crossings with water in them! Very hilly country and an
interesting track in., saw our first wild dingo.
Went to book in a tthePurnulu Rangers Station and register then off to check out campsite.
We stayed at Waraldi in the southern end the first night. The Bungle Bungles
are just out of this world, I love it here. The honeycomb rock features and red
colours are amazing. We had lunch and did the Dome walk and Picaninny Gorge
walk and the Cathedral walk today.
These were only a few kms each most of the
time was taking photos. Back to camp to cook dinner felt good doing some
exercise and walks. Betty and Gerard came across for a chat very interesting
people they have been travelling the world for ten years. They spent one and
half years touring Africa in their vehicle sounds amazing!!!
