Day 8 6th August Bedourie to Arthur River

DAY 8
6th August

Bedourie to Arthur River

Girls walked the main street and took photos of old pub and buildings and beautiful sunrise.

Sunrise
Filled up with fuel at $1.93.9 per litre. Pretty rich! Headed off into the Eyre Basin so flat as far asyou can see. Came across anewlookout on the only hill around opened in April thisyear. Relly cold and windy up on it but magnificent view of the huge basin we were in.
Arrived at Boulia at morning tea time and stopped at the Magnificent Information Centre. This is the area renowned for the mythical "Min Min Lights". The info centre has a great exhibition and show about them. No time for show this trip but certainly need to come back here. The story goes when the Min Min pub burnt down in 1912 a stockman had the first experience of the lights. It is a round white light not far off the horizon and it appears to swing from side to side!!!!! There have been a few sightings since with no real explanation. BELIEVE IT OR NOT!
We topped up with fuel and guess what it was only $1.59 here and we are further away from anywhere you just can't pick it out here.
We passed the turn off to Birdsville. We will be going there next year.

Crossed the QLD and NT Border today. Clocks back half an hour.
Stopped at Arthur River for bush camp. Boys collected wood and girls got dinner ready, Nev cooked ours on the fire right up his alley.
Had a great campfire and lots of laughs listening to Pete's stories.
