13th September
Perth
Today we are all celebrating Rhonda’s 50th
Birthday with a lunch cruise on the Swan River. Some of us caught the bus and
train into town and did the Red City Explorer Bus Tour. It was a good, quick
way to see the sights without having to park in the city and it left from the
wharf that we had to meet for the
cruise. It went past the WACA, Burswood Casino and up to Kings Park to see the
wildflowers.

We had an hour to fill in so we went to the Bell Tower at
the docks. A very interesting place, they have been given for the bicentenary a
set of bells from a cathedral in England. They have been restored are played by
bellringers who can learn the art at this place. It was amazing watching them.
They also had the oldest bell in Australia made in 1550.

Our cruise set off down the Swan River and we had a buffet
lunch. We stopped off at a winery for a tasting and then back on boat for
afternoon coffee and cake. This filled in the whole afternoon with the young
girl staff member singing on the way back and everyone joining in. A fun
afternoon!
